The City is very proud of its parks and the recreational opportunities these parks offer to the citizens of Orrville. The City provides funds for the operations of these parks, and has an on-going program to provide new recreation equipment and maintain the existing equipment. Orr Park, located on West High Street between Hall and North Elm Streets, is approximately 40 acres and contains several softball fields, a baseball field, and little league fields, as well as an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, picnic facilities, two rental halls, and a performing arts pavilion. The park hours are 6 a.m. to 12 midnight. We hope that you will enjoy Orr Park -- whether it is for softball, tennis, basketball, concerts, picnics, swimming, or any of our other activities. The Orrville Walking Trail and Wetlands portion of Orr Park (on the former Blackwell Williams property) is an on-going project. In 2002 the City created a sled-riding hill for residents. There is a parking lot available on the east side of North Ella Street near the new Little League ballfield. Cross the bridge at the northeast corner of the ball diamond and you can then see the hill!

Rehm Performing Arts The Rehm Gazebo bears the name of Leonard and Dorothy Neff Rehm, whom graciously made a bequest to the park to be used at the City's discretion. At that time, it was felt by Mayor Howard Wade and Safety-Service Director Peter Guster that a performing arts pavilion was needed in the community. A planning committee was formed, and they researched several outdoor amphitheater type constructions already in existence. The total cost of the pavilion was $147,000 with funds coming from the initial donation of $35,000 from the Rehms and the remaining funds paid for by the City through its capital fund. The Rehm Performing Arts Gazebo was officially dedicated on July 3, 1987. It has served as a location for many summer weddings, as a theater stage, a podium for speeches, and every summer it serves as the location for free concerts in the park on Thursday evenings. Originally, concerts at the park were paid for with 40% of the funds obtained through Music Performance Trust Funds, and the remaining 60% of the fees coming from donations. The initial concert fees for the summer of 1987 totaled approximately $2,000 in comparison to the estimated cost of $10,000 in 2007. However over the last several years, the summer concerts have been entirely funded through donations from businesses, industries, organizations, and individuals. Rehm Performing Arts Gazebo may be rented through the Safety-Service Department at City Hall, Phone: 330-684-5004. If you wish to make a donation, please mail your check to the Performing Arts Fund, 207 North Main Street, Orrville OH 44667. Your contribution is tax deductible. Rehm Performing Arts Concert Schedule History of Orr Park In April of 1908, the Village of Orrville first purchased 4.75 acres of land. This land was originally purchased for the water supply in the lower park area, and a well house sat where the existing old maintenance building now sits in the lower park area. The acreage was purchased by land contract from Smith Orr for a price of $1,425. The first park board was appointed in 1920, and the board worked on developing this land for a future park. In 1921, Maud Congdon and Charlotte Chamberlin, great-granddaughters of Smith Orr, donated approximately 15 acres of land to the Village for use as a park. Underbrush was cleared, trees trimmed, and the Village built restroom facilities, swings, a bandstand and picnic tables for the new park. The park was dedicated on July 25, 1930. In 1943 the Village of Orrville purchased 14.25 acres from B. G. Cope for a price of $3,500. In 1964 the City of Orrville purchased an additional 3.5 acres from the Orrville City School District for $4,451, and 2 acres was purchased from Orrville Bowling Lanes, Inc., in 1965 for $5,000. Orr Park is almost 40 acres in size. Council appropriated $200 for maintenance of the park in 1921. In 1930, $1,000 was appropriated, and in 1996, almost $123,000 was spent on park maintenance alone. The park is named for Judge Smith Orr, a founder of Orrville and the original landowner of this property. Mini-Parks Gailey Park is located off Wayne Street between East Oak Street and East Paradise Street. It is approximately 4 acres in size and has picnic facilities, as well as restrooms and playground equipment. This park is reserved for use from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The park is named for Orrville's first Mayor, William Gailey.
The City has three neighborhood playgrounds located on North Mill Street, on Lenore Street, and at Foxfire Square. These parks were built with Community Development Block Grant funds, but are maintained by the City. Each park is fenced and has an assortment of playground equipment. Tournaments & Leagues All softball and baseball tournaments shall be run according to City of Orrville policy. There is a tournament fee and deposit required. Tournament
& League application/rules The primary goal of the tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts at Orr Park is to provide a recreational playing area for the general public on a first come, first serve basis. Organized play, i.e. tournaments, training sessions, and league play, while permissible, are subject to conditions, tournament fees and deposits.
